The empty police station on the opposite corner was boarded
up. For a while after the VPD had vacated the main building, it had been
rechristened with a large San Francisco Police Department sign. A set for a TV
show that had apparently ceased production. Now it just looked like another piece of
abandoned real estate on the Downtown Eastside.
